After solving a difficult problem with signal dropouts in LEMAN’s warehouse in Greve, CURAit has been closely linked to the operation and development of the IT infrastructure in LEMAN. According to the IT Manager in LEMAN, CURAit is both an essential problem solver and a robust competence center that spend time on creating solutions instead of long reports.
The global transport and shipping company LEMAN A/S has since its establishment in 1990 grown beyond the borders of Denmark. The IT department in Padborg covers 450 users across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the UK and has traditionally developed IT systems, implemented them and kept them in operation. The IT infrastructure integrates with Finland and the U.S that operate and maintain locally.
OFFERED NO CURE, NO PAY
Back in 2011, LEMAN experienced big daily challenges with the network in their warehouse in Greve. Trucks lost connection to the network, which meant that goods could not be registered automatically. This increased the work processes significantly and minimized the efficiency.
“Both us and our various IT providers were convinced that the problem was caused by a network error. We did not know CURAit in the beginning, but they contacted us at the right time. We struggled with a concrete problem that none of our other IT providers were able to solve. Then we gave them a chance. They offered no cure, no pay, and that showed a big commitment, Uffe Sørensen tells, IT Manager at LEMAN A/S.”
“The surprising thing was that CURAit quickly produced an analysis report, solved the problem and concluded that it was communication collisions on a server that generated the noise. Thereby, it had nothing to do with the network or the warehouse,” he says.
TOOK OVER THE ROLE AS A CLOSE CONSULTANT
Uffe Sørensen was curious to know more about the level of knowledge and competences at CURAit, besides the problem solving. Therefore, they worked out a plan on how to improve the infrastructure in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and the UK.
“CURAit has been involved in designing and structuring the upgrade of our new infrastructure since 2012, and they are our close consulting and sparring partner. Now, they implement, test and maintain everything, and they have taken over tasks from some of the previous IT providers. They have helped us to ensure that our infrastructure is optimized and innovative, and that our processes therefore are much more efficient,” Uffe Sørensen says.
The IT department – previously divided between two Danish locations – has now been concentrated in Padborg where everything is managed by electronic monitoring.
“We have given our infrastructure a boost by implementing solutions with virtual technology and by keeping 450 computers in operation. Our service costs have been reduced, and we use less power. We gain a competent business partner in CURAit, and therefore, we have been able to reduce the numbers of business partners on the IT area. In total, we use significantly less administrative resources in our infrastructure than previously,” Uffe Sørensen tells.
TIME SPENT ON SOLUTIONS, NOT REPORTS
According to Uffe Sørensen, LEMAN especially values the comprehension between the two partners, and the fact that CURAit solves complications quickly.
“Time is spent on creating solutions rather than long reports. We do not discuss much and we get full value for the money. Then, we always experience a willingness to help. It impresses me that they so fast and precisely are able to point out our IT challenges. Their knowledge and competences match the requirements of our company”, Uffe Sørensen concludes.
